Acoustiblok sound proofing is an amazing product - a 3mm thick layer of Acoustiblok offers a sound reduction index of 26 decibels, 6 decibles more than lead! Reducing the sound level by 10dB will approximately halve the sound to the human ear!
Sound Proofing for Walls, Ceilings & Floors
The Acoustiblok material comes in rolls of 3mm and 6mm and is typically applied as part of a layered wall, ceiling or floor construction - typically tacked to joists before drywall is installed. Acoustiblok is certified impervious to water or moisture, is very flexible and cuts with a stanley knife. It can be nailed, stapled or glued in to place and has been tested up to 200 degrees. Adding a layer of Acoustiblok to a standard stud wall will result in an approximate 80% reduction in sound levels! This is better than a solid 12" thick slab of concrete - amazing when you consider it is only 3mm thick.
