Top Crestron Issues (& Solutions!)

If you have a problem with your Crestron installation it is worth checking the below list to see if a fix exists without calling out one of our engineers.

  1. My wireless touchpanel won't hold any charge. This is a relatively common problem, batteries do have a lifespan of a certain number of charge cycles. If your system appears to charge when docked (or plugged in) but quickly dies when unplugged your battery needs replacing. If you dock it and it still wont charge then plug the power pack straight into the panel (bypassing the docking station), if it charges then the docking station is faulty, if it still doesnt charge the most likely culprit is the power pack. Check the power pack for any lights on, damaged cables or smells of burning or excess heat.
  2. My Wired Touchpanel is non-repsonsive. The thing to check here is that other panels are working - is the problem just this panel or have a whole bank (or the entire system) stopped working? If the entire system has gone down then check the main hub has power (are lights on the equipment in the hub). If just one panel then check to see if there is any physical damage. If you can power cycle the system then holding your finger on the panel when power is applied should enter setup mode - a panel which is truly dead won't go in to setup any other fault it should.
  3. How do I calibrate my Wireless Touchpanel? Some Crestron wireless panels can become 'less accurate' over time - pressing in one part of the screen selects somewhere else. It isn't common but it can happen if the screen gets dirty or dusty. You can re-calibrate the panel by entering setup mode - to do this press and hold your finger on the front of the panel and apply power. It's important not to change any other settings in here otherwise you might have a well calibrated touchpanel which wont speak to the control system!
  4. I want to change my DVD or Sky Receiver. This is a straightforward job if you have a copy of the software running on your system. Without the original source files nobody else can make changes to your system. In a small number of cases you can swap devices from the same manufacturer - so swapping a Samsung DVD player for a Samsung BluRay player may just work although you may not get full functionality.
  5. My installation Company has gone bust mid-install! This is, unfortunately, happening more and more in the current financial climate. The important thing, after ensuring your receive hardware you have paid for, is to get as much documentation as you possiibly can. Chances are the firm will have bigger issues to worry about so you need to make sure you ask for documentation and any software running on your system. A new company will have to reverse engineer your entire system which can be a huge undertaking.
