Crestron Integration Award Winner — “Best High Rise in Europe”
Working in the listed Claridge’s Hotel penthouse apartments is one of our highest-profile projects. The brief was to install Crestron-controlled Loewe multimedia systems in two apartments comprising three rooms each, ensuring effortless operation for guests of any nationality — within interiors that are listed and cannot be physically altered. This installation won Custom Controls the Crestron Integration Award for Best High Rise Project in Europe.
High End AV for a Five-Star Hotel
Working in the iconic Claridge’s Hotel presented a specific set of challenges. The final system had to be easy to use by multiple nationalities, blend entirely with the high-end historical interiors and be designed around the fact that many elements of the penthouse apartments are listed. No new cable routes could be created in areas with protected interiors. The entertainment system had to be designed around what was possible, not what would be simplest.
Crestron Wireless Touchpanel Control
Our design centred on the Crestron TPS-6X wireless touchpanel, which uses RF communication to control all devices — securing instant response without relying on WiFi, eliminating interference from neighbouring wireless networks. Each touchpanel is branded with the Claridge’s crest and designed in a bespoke finish to blend with the penthouse interiors. Guests access Loewe multimedia installations including Blu-ray players, Sky HD and hotel TV from the same elegant interface.
Our Smart Home Services
Loewe Multimedia Systems
Each room benefits from a Loewe LED TV and Blu-ray player. In the living room, 46″ Loewe TVs are enhanced by upgraded audio packages — the Individual Sound Projector in one apartment and stand-mounted stereo speakers in another, both supported by subwoofers. The listed interiors meant all installation work required careful planning and expert execution to leave no permanent trace in the fabric of the building.
An Official Crestron Case Study
This project became an official Crestron Digital Media Case Study — one of a small number of international studies featured on Crestron.com. It is one of the projects that contributed to Custom Controls winning five consecutive Crestron Integration Awards, earning the company its unique Dealer of Distinction status in EMEA.
Frequently Asked Questions — Claridge’s Hotel Penthouses
Can Crestron be installed in a listed building without altering the interior?

What made this installation suitable for international hotel guests?
The Crestron interface was designed to be intuitive regardless of language or nationality — a critical requirement for a five-star hotel serving an international clientele, with each touchpanel branded to match the property’s identity.
Why did Crestron feature this as an official case study?
Crestron selected this installation as an official Digital Media Case Study, recognising the achievement of delivering a full smart AV system within the constraints of a listed historic building — one of the projects that contributed to Custom Controls’ five consecutive Crestron Integration Award wins.
