Custom Controls has been delivering Crestron home automation, home cinema and audio installations in Dubai since the early days of the UAE’s luxury residential boom. We currently run two to three Dubai projects simultaneously.

We have completed installations ranging from a single cinema room in a family villa to a multi-building estate with eight automation processors, seventy-two audio zones, and a private IMAX Enhanced cinema room — one of the first private IMAX Enhanced installations in the region and the project that won us the Crestron Integration Award for Best International Project in EMEA. No other installer in Dubai has delivered a project at this level and documented it publicly.

Why Custom Controls — The Credentials That Matter

The UAE has no shortage of AV and automation installers. What it has very few of are companies with independently verified credentials at the highest level. Custom Controls hold Crestron Dealer of Distinction status — awarded only to companies that have won five consecutive Crestron Integration Awards. No other installer operating in the Dubai market holds this distinction. It is not a badge that can be purchased or claimed; it is earned project by project, judged by Crestron’s own panel against entries from across EMEA.

We are also RoomPerfect Certified Professionals — one of a small number of installers worldwide formally certified by Steinway Lyngdorf for the calibration of their room correction system. For Dubai clients specifying Steinway Lyngdorf cinema systems, this certification means the system is calibrated to the manufacturer’s standard, not approximated.

Our engineers are Crestron-accredited and have programmed and installed systems of a complexity that very few Dubai-based companies encounter. Our pre-build methodology — assembling, programming and fully testing every system at our UK workshop before it reaches the project — means installation in Dubai is precise, efficient and predictable. We are not learning on your project. We have done this many times before. We also bring complete manufacturer independence: we have no commercial arrangements with any distributor in the UAE, so our specifications are based entirely on what is right for each project.

Smart Home Automation
Complete Crestron home automation for Dubai villas — controlling air conditioning, lighting, AV, security, access control, pool and garden systems from a single, unified interface. Climate control is particularly significant in the UAE: Crestron integrates precisely with all major AC platforms used locally — Daikin, Mitsubishi, Carrier, York — via KNX or BACnet, delivering room-by-room temperature management and geofenced arrival scenes that pre-cool the villa before the family arrives, which our Dubai clients report cuts energy costs substantially. Remote access is standard — your home in Dubai is accessible from anywhere in the world, fully controllable from a smartphone or tablet.

Home Cinema — Including IMAX Enhanced
We have designed and installed some of the finest private cinema rooms in Dubai — including a fully certified IMAX Enhanced cinema room with a 6.4m screen, 18 seats and a 13.2.14 Dolby Atmos system, among the first of its kind in private residential use in the region. Our Dubai cinema projects range from intimate six-seat family rooms to large-format theatre spaces. Lighting Control
Lutron lighting control installed throughout the villa — scene-based, automated, and integrated with the wider smart home system. Arrival and departure scenes, pool and garden lighting integrated with interior scenes, and energy management that responds to occupancy and time of day — significant in a climate where air conditioning and lighting loads are substantial. Home Entertainment & Whole-Villa Audio
AV distribution throughout the villa — any source available in any room, simultaneously. Artcoustic and Origin Acoustics speaker systems for indoor and outdoor audio, with pool area, garden and terrace audio engineered for the acoustic challenges of open outdoor spaces in a hot climate. Every zone supports direct streaming from a family member’s or guest’s own phone via AirPlay or Bluetooth, and for serious listening we integrate the Roon app for high-resolution streaming and any locally stored music library. Our Dubai estate project included four outdoor cabinet speakers and four in-ground subwoofers at the basketball court alone — a standard of outdoor audio very rarely achieved.

WiFi & Networking
Enterprise-grade networking is the foundation every other system depends on. For large Dubai villas — often with extensive grounds, multiple buildings, and large numbers of simultaneously connected devices — consumer networking is wholly inadequate. We design and install Cisco Meraki, UniFi and Ruckus-based networks, fully surveyed and engineered for the specific property, with WiFi coverage throughout the villa, grounds and outbuildings.

Home Security & Access Control
CCTV, IP camera systems, gate automation, door entry, biometric access and alarm integration — all controlled through the same Crestron interface as every other system in the villa. Our Dubai installations typically cover extensive grounds as well as the villa itself, requiring careful camera placement and perimeter coverage design.

Superyachts & Marine
Dubai’s position as one of the world’s major superyacht and motor yacht hubs means a significant number of our UAE clients also require technology installations on their vessels. We have completed AV, automation and networking installations on large private motor yachts and are experienced in the specific demands of marine environments — waterproofing, power management, satellite connectivity and the certification requirements that differ from residential work. Designed in Britain. Built for Dubai.

The logistics of delivering a high-end installation in the UAE are significant. Our process has been refined across multiple Dubai projects to ensure that every installation is delivered to exactly the same standard as our UK work — on time, on brief, and without compromise.

Consultation & Design. Initial consultations are conducted via video call or, where the project scale justifies it, in person in Dubai. We carry out a detailed site survey — either directly or in coordination with the client’s architect or project manager — and produce a full system design before any commitment is made.

Pre-Build & Testing. Every system is assembled, programmed and fully tested at our UK workshop before it is shipped to Dubai — the most important stage of any international project. Racks arrive in Dubai in operating condition. When our engineers arrive on site, the system has been proven to work in its entirety, so time on site is spent on installation, integration and calibration, not troubleshooting.

Installation. Our own engineers travel to Dubai for the installation. We do not subcontract to local companies — the engineers who designed the system install the system. We have established relationships with trusted local tradespeople for construction and finish works where required, coordinated by our project manager.

Commissioning, Maintenance & System Takeovers. Every system is commissioned and calibrated on site before handover, and enrolled in remote monitoring from our UK operations from day one — we receive automatic alerts when any element of the system degrades and resolve the majority remotely without a site visit. We schedule quarterly engineer visits to Dubai for preventative maintenance, software updates and any hardware work requiring on-site presence, and offer annual maintenance contracts covering priority remote support, scheduled visits and system health checks. We also take over and improve existing smart home systems in Dubai installed by other companies — Crestron, Control4, Savant, KNX and others — auditing what’s there, fixing what’s broken and reprogramming what was never quite finished properly.
