Choosing the Right Platform

We build primarily around Crestron, the most capable residential automation platform available anywhere, with Lutron handling lighting and shading on the majority of our significant projects. We’re equally fluent in Control4 and Savant, and every system — whichever platform it’s built on — is programmed from scratch for the property and the people living in it. What a Smart Home Brings Together

A smart home is only as good as the systems it connects, so we design each one in its own right before bringing them together. Lighting control and motorised shading, usually Lutron, set the atmosphere of every room. Climate control brings heating, cooling and ventilation into room-by-room schedules. Multi-room audio and video deliver any source to any room, security and access control put cameras, gates and intercoms on the same screens, and a dedicated home cinema can sit within the same system. The control platform then ties everything together, so one scene can set the whole house for the evening, for leaving or for bed.

The Network Comes First

Every smart home runs over its network, so we design and install that network ourselves on every project. A wired backbone to every room and outbuilding, managed PoE switching and enterprise WiFi designed for the house and grounds mean that control, video and audio traffic never compete. Control, entertainment and guest traffic are separated, and the whole network is monitored alongside the rest of the system. Designed Around the People Who Live There

The best smart homes are the ones nobody in the household has to think about. We agree how each room is used, who uses it and when, and design the keypads, touchpanels and app around those routines rather than around the technology. Guests, housekeepers and children get simple controls; the family gets the depth they want on their own phones. After handover, scenes and schedules are refined as the household settles in, so the system keeps matching how the home is actually lived in.

Engineered for Scale

Scale is where we do our best work. A single-room automation upgrade and a full country estate share the same underlying design principles, but a large multi-building property demands a fundamentally different architecture — and it’s the type of project we have the deepest experience delivering. Rather than routing every device back to one central equipment cabinet, we design distributed rack systems: typically a dedicated rack per building, a further rack per floor on larger structures, and one or two more racks serving the garden and grounds. Every rack runs its own processing and is networked back to the same control system, so however many buildings, floors or acres are involved, the property is controlled as one seamless whole from a single interface.

From Design Stage to Handover

Smart home design begins early — during architectural planning or renovation design, not once the walls are already up. We work directly with architects and interior designers to integrate control points, wiring routes, equipment locations and user interfaces into the building design itself. Support and System Takeovers

Every installation includes training, full documentation and ongoing support, because a smart home is only as good as its reliability years after handover. We provide updates, troubleshooting and maintenance to keep every system performing the way it did on day one — and remote monitoring is standard, so most issues are identified and resolved before a client has even noticed anything was wrong. Where a system was installed by another company, we audit it, document it and fix problems at their cause before taking over ongoing support. Many inherited systems can be brought up to date by reprogramming and replacing interfaces, reusing the existing cabling rather than starting again.
