Ideal Cinema Room Dimensions & Ratios
Perfect Room Shapes - make the most of your Sound System.
As part of our home cinema installation service there tend to be two distinct varities of project - design of a cinema in a new build home and conversion of an existing unused space (basement, attic or garage typically).
There are several golden rules which should be applied to the design of the room to ensure the best possible audio experience - some are easier to implement than others, all will be better than a standard square room. The uppermost designs will give the best results moving down the scale.
The Ultimate Trapagon
The ultimate trapagon is the ultimate shape, with a little acoustic treatment the sound will be as good as it gets. It looks akward to pull off but can fit very well in attic conversions. The extra effort can reap excellent rewards.
Normal Trapagon
Subtle differences to the Ultimate Trapagon make the cinema room design easier to pull off yet still maintain excellent sound characteristics.
Golden Cuboid
The golden cuboid is easier to accomodate in many projects yet will still allow the best speakers to perfrom at their best. This is the design which gets used the majority of the time and is usually combined with accoustic treatments.
