The flagship Model D is a full-range line source speaker capable of producing a soundstage that genuinely rivals a live performance. The Model A delivers a full-range experience in a more room-friendly, elegantly proportioned cabinet, while the Model B and Model C offer exceptional performance in varying room sizes. For stereo systems requiring discreet boundary woofer integration, Steinway Lyngdorf’s proprietary boundary woofers — designed to be placed directly against a wall or in a corner — extract dramatically more bass output from a smaller cabinet than any conventional subwoofer, and are calibrated to perfection by RoomPerfect.

In-Wall, In-Ceiling and On-Wall Speakers — Hidden Home Cinema and Whole House Audio
For clients who want reference-quality audio without any visible loudspeakers, the Steinway Lyngdorf custom installation range is without equal. These speakers are engineered to the same exacting standards as the freestanding models — the same drivers, the same crossover philosophy, the same acoustic precision — but built to disappear entirely into your walls and ceilings. In-wall speakers can be used as front, centre, surround and immersive Atmos channels in a home cinema, or as the primary speakers in a whole house audio system distributed throughout multiple rooms. Behind acoustically transparent fabric or plaster-over grilles, they become genuinely invisible. In-ceiling speakers provide height channels for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio formats, or serve as distributed audio speakers in living spaces where wall speakers are impractical. On-wall speakers offer a compromise between freestanding performance and discreet installation, available in custom finishes to complement any interior.
The above-and-below-screen speaker configuration is a particularly elegant solution for home cinemas: wide-baffle speakers positioned above and below the projection screen deliver a perfectly aligned front soundstage without any gap between the image and the sound. The Steinway & Sons Model S Soundbar is the finest soundbar in existence — and it is not close. Designed as a genuine alternative to a full multi-speaker system for clients where a cinema installation is not possible or desirable, the Model S delivers true high-fidelity audio from an elegantly slim on-wall profile. It is not a compromise. The Model S uses the same driver technology and digital processing as the full Steinway Lyngdorf system and is calibrated by RoomPerfect — meaning it delivers more convincing, more accurate sound than most conventional multi-speaker installations. Available in a range of custom finishes, it is as much a work of design as it is an audio component.

Every Steinway Lyngdorf system includes RoomPerfect, the most sophisticated room correction technology in the world. Understanding RoomPerfect is key to understanding why these systems are in a category of their own.
Why rooms matter — and why most audio systems get it wrong
Every room imposes its own acoustic character on any sound system placed inside it. Reflections from walls, floors and ceilings cause peaks and dips in frequency response that can be far more significant than any difference between speakers. A system that sounds extraordinary in a showroom will sound different — sometimes dramatically so — in your home. Most high-end audio components are voiced in sonically optimised listening rooms that bear no resemblance to a real living space or cinema. They are essentially designed to sound good in a space you are unlikely to own. Steinway Lyngdorf designed RoomPerfect specifically to solve this problem.
How RoomPerfect works
RoomPerfect takes multiple measurements from different positions around the room — not just the primary listening position — building a comprehensive model of the room’s acoustic character. It then applies highly sophisticated digital signal processing to the audio signal, separating the loudspeaker’s own character from the room’s interference and correcting only what needs to be corrected. The process takes around twenty minutes. The result is a system that sounds as the engineers at Steinway Lyngdorf intended — in your room, with your furniture, in your interior. No external computer, no screen, no specialist software knowledge is required from the listener. Our engineers handle the entire calibration process as part of the installation. RoomPerfect also means that Steinway Lyngdorf speakers can be positioned where they work best for the interior — against a wall for tighter bass and higher efficiency, or free-standing for a wider soundstage — because the system corrects for the acoustic consequences of either choice. RoomPerfect — a technology trusted by the industry’s finest
The quality of RoomPerfect is best evidenced by the fact that it is the only proprietary room correction technology that other premium manufacturers have licensed for use in their own products. McIntosh — one of the most prestigious names in American hi-fi — has licensed RoomPerfect technology for use in its MEN220 room correction unit and its flagship MX180 AV processor, as well as other electronics in its range. When a brand of McIntosh’s standing chooses another company’s technology for its flagship products, it speaks very clearly to the quality of what is being licensed.

Case Study — The World’s Largest Steinway Lyngdorf Order: A Private Villa in Rome

In 2024, Custom Controls completed what is believed to be the largest single Steinway Lyngdorf installation ever carried out — a private villa in Rome requiring a scale and complexity of audio design that few projects anywhere in the world have matched.
The brief called for 31 zones of whole house audio across the property. Ten of those zones are full Steinway Lyngdorf high-fidelity stereo systems — each one a standalone reference audio installation in its own right. The remaining 21 zones are distributed audio powered by Bluesound, integrated seamlessly with the Steinway zones so that the client moves through a continuous, coherent sonic environment across every space in the villa.

Steinway & Sons Model O speakers serve the more intimate rooms, delivering the same extraordinary resolution in a more compact form.
S-15 in-wall speakers provide reference-quality audio in spaces where a fully hidden installation was required, disappearing entirely behind plaster-finish grilles.
Steinway Lyngdorf Marine speakers, paired with custom marine subwoofers built specifically for outdoor and marine environments, extend the same standard of audio to the exterior spaces of the villa — terraces, pool areas and outdoor entertaining zones — with full weatherproofing and the acoustic precision of RoomPerfect calibration even outdoors.
Every one of the ten Steinway zones was individually calibrated using RoomPerfect — each room measured, modelled and corrected independently so that the sound in every space of the property is optimised for its own specific acoustic environment.
The Home Cinema — 5.1.2 Surround Sound with Samsung The Wall
At the heart of the property is a dedicated home cinema of extraordinary specification. The centrepiece is a Samsung The Wall display measuring 3 metres by 2 metres — one of the largest and most impressive residential display solutions available. The scale of the image demanded an audio system to match. The cinema delivers 5.1.2 immersive surround sound. Bass performance is provided by four Steinway Lyngdorf LS BW boundary woofers — each housing two 15-inch drive units, giving the room a total of eight 15-inch subwoofer drivers. The result is a bass foundation that is not merely loud but extraordinarily precise, fast and musically convincing: the kind of physical impact that puts the viewer inside the film rather than merely watching it. The front soundstage uses a twin centre-speaker arrangement unique to the scale of the screen: one centre speaker is positioned above the display and one below, working together as a phantom centre. The ear perceives the centre channel as emanating from the middle of the screen rather than above or below it — ensuring that dialogue and the primary sonic image are anchored perfectly to the 3m × 2m picture, with no perceptible disconnect between what is heard and what is seen. It is a solution that only becomes necessary — and only becomes possible — at this scale of installation.
The Scale of the Achievement
This project represents a new benchmark for a domestic audio installation. The coordination required — across ten independently calibrated Steinway Lyngdorf stereo systems, 21 Bluesound zones, a cinema of this specification and a marine audio installation across the exterior — demanded the kind of engineering, project management and cross-system integration capability that very few companies in the world could deliver.
